Kate Upton Shows That Real Women Have Curves

If you have ever watched a fashion show on TV, or in real life you will have seen some rather emaciated looking people modeling clothing for "regular" people. For years, clothing has been shown off on the catwalk by women with very few curves. That's why when a model like Kate Upton, a model with curves, and a body that's closer to the norm, becomes popular, it is likely to turn heads, get people's attention, and attract some unkind criticism.

Such was the case when blogger SkinnyGurl decided to go on a rampage about the way Kate Upton looked. Never mind that she has walked several catwalks, and was able to make the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. SkinnyGurl still made sure that everyone knew that she thought that Kate Upton was a "fattie", among other things.

The thing is, modeling is a VERY strict business. Unlike movies where you can write an amazing dialogue for someone who rarely reads a book, modeling requires acting without words. You have to portray a feeling or emotion that will really sell a product without saying anything - a skill that requires more than just a pretty face. The bottom line is that if the powers that be didn't think she could model well enough to sell the product, they wouldn't hire her. Like Cindy Crawford said on the video documentary 'The Making of a Model' - "When you sell, you get covers, and when you don't sell, you don't get covers anymore".

The big thing that has really made this interesting is the public backlash against SkinnyGurl. She has received numerous threats from people, and harsh rebuttals about the remarks she has made about Kate Upton. Make no mistake - the blog run by SkinnyGurl is meant to be controversial which is why she made several comments about Kate Upton, but this one time where the public has made their opinions known that her antics have gone much too far this time.

After not saying anything about the comments for awhile, Kate Upton finally spoke up in the Sunday Times UK - "My body is something that you have to work out and eat healthily for. I'm not doing drugs or not eating. I want to enjoy life and I can't be enjoying life if I'm not eating and miserable."
