Sadly, many companies have gamed the system to the point where when you put in a product name to find a coupon code, the listings on the first page of search results show your product name with the word "coupons" or "discount codes" next to it, but when you actually go to the site, chances are there are no useful coupon codes or discount codes to be found. While being mislead in regards to available coupon codes can be discouraging, keep in mind that online coupon codes can be a great way to save on services, and are definitely worth searching for. Here are a few tips on finding coupon codes online:

  • Check reputable, and well known coupon sites to see what coupons they have available.
  • Ask for help on social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, or MySpace to see if any of your online friends, or associates have any leads on discount codes that you are looking for.
  • If you shop at a particular retailer often, you may want to sign up for their weekly e-mail newsletter. Many businesses will give out discounts through their weekly e-mail newsletters to those who are signed up to receive them.
  • If you do a search for "discount codes" for a particular product, and the first listings show your product name, and the words "discount codes" next to it, but do not show any specifics as to how much of a discount the discount code would give you, there is a strong possibility that the site has a script or a program that works to put that website at the top of the search results whenever someone uses the words "discount codes" in their search inquiry. Still check it out, but don't be too disappointed if there is nothing there.
  • Join websites, and forums that specialize in finding coupon codes, and discount codes online. You can start a new thread, and let people know that you are looking for a discount on a particular item. Usually people on these kinds of sites like to be helpful, and you might even find someone on that website or forum who will know where to find discounts for the products that you really want.
